For a second year, the Ugandan league went to the wire and final day drama was the one to determine the outright winner.
Going into the final game, Jogoos led the pack on 54 points, with BUL, Vipers and Kitara following with 53 and 51 points respectively and each wanted nothing less than a win.
Whereas the other competitors were up at half time, at Lugogo where SC Villa visited NEC FC, the Jogoos were firing blanks.
It was goalless first half in which SC Villa created almost nothing as NEC went toe to toe with them.
This state of affairs meant BUL FC were edging closer to their first ever league title.
However, 67 minutes on the clock, Charles Lwanga put the Jogoos in front with a beautiful head as he capitalized on a Umar Lutalo cross to send fans into frenzy.
Things were not yet done as Hakim Kiwanuka took SC Villa beyond reach eight minutes later with a second goal.
Victory meant SC Villa tallied 57 points, one above BUL and Vipers in the second and third positions respectively.
This sealed everything at the Phillip Omondi Stadium as SC Villa secured the elusive 17th title after a two decade wait for the feat.
This meant SC Villa’s haul of 17 titles is four more than KCCA’s who the nearest challengers for total titles are.
