Vincent Lubega is Makerere University’s 90th guild president

Lubega Vincent Nsamba, associated with the National Unity Platform (NUP) has won the Makerere University guild race to become the 90th guild president.

In a tightly contested election, Lubega got 2540 votes, only four ahead of Edmond Ariho’s 2536 votes in second place while Kasekende Fulungensio secured the third position after receiving 1674 votes, while Wandukwa Simon came fourth with 1039 votes.

The guild race had 16 candidates.

The winner, Lubega is in his second year at the university doing a Bachelors of Arts with Social Sciences.

In his acceptance speech, Lubega said attributed his win to God’s favour onto him.

“A son to smallholders is now the 90th Guild President of Makerere University. It was it has been it is and it will be God. With all the impediments we successfully subdued during this journey, I can now conclusively acclaim the famous statement that ‘Makerere University’s Guild Presidents are chosen by God,” Lubega said.
