Who will lift the Premier League Trophy in May 2025?

The 2024/2025 English Premier League season kicked off yesterday with Manchester United playing against Fulham. As expected, the excitement is palpable among football fans in Uganda, especially the youth. Youth Blitz sought the views of some of them on which club they think will lift this season’s trophy in May 2025.

David Mubiru, 22, boda boda-Arsenal

I am a staunch Arsenal fan and I am confident that this is the Gunners’ year. Arsenal came so close last season, finishing just behind Manchester City. They are now a solid group of players who have mostly been together for three years. The squad has matured and Arteta’s tactics are now being fully understood by the players. This is Arsenal’s time to shine.

Sarah Ainembabazi, 19, student-Manchester City

I believe Manchester City will continue their dominance.  City has been the most consistent team in recent years, and with Pep Guardiola still in charge, it’s hard to bet against them. If you watched the community shield game against Manchester United, you can see that their depth is unmatched, and they know how to win the league.

Joshua Ssalongo 27, businessman– Manchester City

I don’t think there is any team that will stop Manchester City. As champions, they start from a strong position and since they still have their key players like Haaland, they are unstoppable.

Pep Guardiola has instilled discipline and tactical awareness into the squad in that whatever team they put out looks strong. They have the deepest squad.

Aisha Nalukenge 21, student – Liverpool

I see Liverpool bouncing back from a disappointing previous campaign. Klopp’s team had a rough season, but with a new manager, Arne Slot, you can see that the squad is rejuvenated. They have played well in pre-season. I see them challenging for the title again. Liverpool’s never-say-die attitude will push them all the way.

Michael Kawalya, 24, businessman – Chelsea

I am optimistic about Chelsea’s chances. Chelsea had a turbulent season last year, but with a new coach and a more settled squad, they will be a force. The Blues have always been strong defensively, and if they can sort out their attack, they’ll be in the mix. Watch out for Chelsea as the dark horses.

Fiona Oyugi, 27, beautician – Arsenal

I am putting my faith in Arsenal. Arsenal may not be the favorites for many people but they now have a solid squad to challenge for the title. They just need to add a reliable striker and a midfielder to the squad. It’s a bold prediction, but I think Arsenal can do it.”

Samuel Bakka, 23, boda boda– Manchester United

I know many people still don’t believe Manchester United is ready to challenge for the title but they will be shocked. United has been steadily improving, and with their strong finish last season, they’ve shown they can compete at the top. Erik Ten Hag has settled in and now knows the dynamics of the Premier League. With a few more signings, they can mount a serious title challenge.

Zaitune Luwagga, 21, food vendor – Manchester City

Manchester City will retain the trophy. I saw some people write them off after the community shield game against Manchester United last week but that it a big mistake. They have experience, players, the right manager, and the know-how. You see how they deflated Arsenal last season. If they can maintain their consistency, they will always remain the club to beat.
