Sheebah leaves fans yearning for more as she takes sabbatical after successful concert
Singer Sheebah Kalungi registered success at her Neeyanzizza concert at Lugogo Cricket Oval as she prepared for a sabbatical.
Named ‘Neeyanzizza’ loosely translated as ‘I am grateful’, Sheebah’s concert was meant to thank fans for supporting her for almost two decades since joining Uganda’s singing industry.
Hitting the stage at around 10pm, Sheebah sang songs like Twesaana, Ice Cream, Exercise, John Rambo and Ekyama among others.
At one moment, she stopped the performance to thank her fans.
“I am a bit overwhelmed. I have never performed like this. Today is an emotional day for me. I love you all my fans,” she said.
She later left the stage to go change outfits before returning to perform.
During the second phase of her performance, Sheebah sang all her latest songs that threw her fans into more frenzy.
She would at certain intervals stop the performance to give chance to the audience to sing along with her and not even the VIP section was spared as they sang along.
Whereas she was pregnant, Sheebah couldn’t help shaking her waist and dancing during the performance.
During the concert at Lugogo Cricket Oval, Sheebah finally let the cat out of the coat, confirming to her fans that he is pregnant.
For many months, rumour has been swirling about the singer’s pregnancy.
Her fans were kept in the dark about the rumour of pregnancy and to this, Sheebah had promised to confirm or deny the pregnancy claims during the concert.
And to this, she didn’t disappoint.
The crowd that had grown wild in anticipation of the Swagg Mama were treated to the pregnancy revelation .
She did this by showing her baby bump.
Many were thrown into frenzy.
The singer also used this opportunity to tell the fully packed Lugogo Cricket Oval that she was taking a break after the concert as part of her maternity leave.
“I am not going away forever. It is just a break to enable me refuel and come back stronger. However, during the break, I will keep releasing hits,” the singer said.
Sheebah’s fans however disapproved of her sabbatical, many of them saying she is still energetic, asking that she continues with her performances until the last day of giving birth.
The singer has cemented her name in Uganda’s music industry but has also on several occasions been recognized at the Uganda Music Awards, Zzina Awards, HiPipo Music Awards, and internationally at the Nigeria Entertainment Awards among others.
