Another Ugandan footballer joins New York Red Bulls in USA
21-year-old Frank Ssebuufu has become the second Ugandan youngster to join New York Red Bulls II, a football club in the United States.
The striker who joins from Wakiso Giants was unveiled by the US based club earlier this month.
The club Sporting Director Denis Hamlett stated: “We are pleased to welcome Frank to the club for our first MLS NEXT Pro season. He has a bright future, and we know he will be a great addition to the team.”
The club coach, also former Uganda national team coach, Ibrahim Ssekagya hailed the youngster as a good addition to his team.
“Frank has many skills that he can bring to the table and will be a great piece within the squad. His success both domestically and internationally was a main factor in our decision to bring him on board,” Ssekagya said.
The striker who joined Wakiso Giants in 2021 from Lungujja Galaxy FC scored six times in 60 matches, most of which were registered as he came off the bench.
Ssebuufu now joins Steven Sserwadda as the second Ugandan to join New York Red Bull II in the US.
Earlier this month, two Ugandan youngsters, Abdul-Aziz Kayondo and Allan Enyou were signed by Spanish second tier club, CD Leganes Cantera y Escuela.
They joined a legion of many other Ugandan youngsters signed by European and American clubs into their ranks.
