She Cranes warm hearts again at Africa Netball Cup 2024
Uganda’s national netball team, the She Cranes have again warmed the continent’s hearts at the Africa Netball Cup which climaxed in Namibia.
She Cranes settled for silver after falling to South Africa’s SPAR Proteas in the finals played at the MTC Dome in Swakopmund, Namibia.
Despite falling short of their target of a fourth title after previous wins in 2014, 2017, and 2018 , Uganda’s national netball team made some gains.
For example, Uganda’s centre Margaret Bagala was named the tournament’s best centre after her stellar performance throughout the cup.
Last year, She Cranes secured a memorable 49-47 victory against South Africa in the Netball World Cup to ensure the East African nation finished fifth overall and took the number one spot among the African nations.
According to the latest world netball rankings, Uganda is 6th on 4,224 points, a position below South Africa who are on 5,546 points as the highest ranked African countries in world netball.
