Uganda’s Eddy Kenzo voted East Africa’s best musician of 2021

Ugandan singer, Edirisa Musuuza, also known as Eddy Kenzo has been voted as the best male musician in Eastern Africa in 2021 in the All Africa Music Awards (AFRIMA).

“Thank you, God, for making this possible for us again. Thank you All Africa Music Awards. It is always an honour. Thank you, my fans, worldwide,” Kenzo posted on his social media accounts on Monday.

“My people it’s your boy Eddy Kenzo and I am here to give a big shout out to AFRIMA. Thank you for rewarding me best Eastern Africa artist of 2021. Thank you so much to the fans, to all the people in my category, all nominees, all East African artistes, African artistes and to all Ugandan artistes who represented Uganda in AFRIMA.”

To win the award, the Ugandan artiste beat several others to the accolade including Tanzania’s Diamond Platinumz, Harmonize and Ali Kiba as well as Rwanda’s Meddy among others.

Whereas the Sitya Loss singer was the only one to win an accolade from Uganda, the East African country was well represented by B2C, Bebe Cool and Spice Diana who got nods for their exceptional talent.

Started in 2014, AFRIMA is an annual awards event established by the International Committee AFRIMA, in collaboration with the African Union to reward and celebrate musical works, talents and creativity around the African continent while promoting the African cultural heritage.

Several Ugandans have in the past won the award.
