MTV Base ranks Uganda’s Azawi among artists to look out for in 2022
Pay television music channel, MTV Base has ranked Uganda’s Azawi as one of the African musicians to watch out for in the year 2022.
Managed by Swangz Avenue since 2019, Pricilla Zawedde, stage name Azawi has been on a roll since coming onto the music scene with her debut single, Quinamino and has not looked back.
In October last year, she released her debut album named “African Music” that has sold her all over the world.
News coming from MTV Base indicates that the Ugandan singer has been billed among those to watch out for this year in Africa.
“The music industry has been buzzing with new talents, major comebacks, vibe lords and queens, spot on collaborations and we are here for it. However, here are some really interesting talents you should keep tabs on because they have got what it takes to take Africa to the world,” MTV Base said before naming the Ugandan singer.
Azawi’ s African Music album has been on different streams as well as topping several count downs globally.
It has got over 1.5M streams already on different channels and platforms with her song “Ache for you” being ranked by Apple as one of the best songs in 2021.
She also featured on different international platforms for interviews like the BBC spotlight.
Last year, the 25-year-old musician was recognized with over eight accolades from big Ugandan recognized awards events.
This year, Azawi will be travelling to the United Kingdom and Turkey for a musical and media tour. “My music is a fusion of African sounds and rhythms.
