PICTORIAL: Afri art and fashion show excites

It was glamour at Motiv in Kampala as fashion lovers were treated to the latest pieces at the Afri art and fashion show organized by Trillion Looks Store.

At the show, African fashion lovers, stylists, fashion designers and students in fashion marveled at creativity and talent as models donning pieces made by Ugandans rocked the runway.

The fashion show according to Cerinah Nalwoga Kasirye, the founder of Trillion Looks Store is meant to showcase the country’s cultural heritage.

“The pieces are designed using locally sources materials including cotton and bark cloth among others. All of them have a Ugandan touch to it and we want to use it to change the narrative to show we are Ugandans and Africans,” Nalwoga said.

The fashion show also for the first-time featured food tourism as one of its highlights.

“This is was aimed at educating attendees about the diverse culinary dishes from across Uganda. This was an opportunity for many of them to to savor these dishes, learn their names, and understand their regional origins,” Nalwoga noted.

Cultural performances from Bitone Troupe spiced up the event.
