Kenneth Mugabi stamps his music authority with ‘People of the Land’ concert
Many had not known his music prowess until Friday but Kenneth Mugabi showed he is a name to reckon with in Uganda’s music industry with his ‘People of the Land’ concert at Serena Hotel.
Joining a music industry a few years ago, Mugabi had not headlined many concerts and November 24 was his day to show his mettle, and just as one would think, he didn’t disappoint.
Hitting the stage at around 8pm, Mugabi started with songs off his ‘People of the Land’ album but that was not all, as he sang all his songs.
The fans also didn’t disappoint as they thronged Serena Hotel in big numbers and not even the heavy downpour could stop them from accessing the filled to capacity venue.
To show Mugabi love, the fans sang along and danced to every song, his melodious voice sending them into frenzy. Akadope band backed up the singer throughout his performance.
He summed up the concert with his Naki song which evoked love emotions among his fans, many of whom could not help but fall in love.
Many opined this was a rebirth of Mugabi’s career whereas others insisted the concert made him stamp his authority on Uganda’s music industry.
Guitarists Myko Ouma and Andereya Baguma added the icing on the cake whereas poets Mitch Isabirye and Sewa Sewa of Janzi band also threw fans into frenzy.
Singers including Zulitums, Lilian Mbabazi and Naava Grey also entertained the fans at the fully packed Serena. “I am still trying to find the right words to say. Thank you my people of the land,” Mugabi posted on X after the concert.
