Uganda collects 19 medals as 13th African Games come to an end

Uganda came out 13th with 19 medals in the different sports disciplines at the just concluded 13th edition of the African Games played in Ghana.

The games that commenced with a breathtaking opening ceremony at the University of Ghana Sports Stadium, capturing the rich cultural heritage, sporting prowess and diversity of the African continent that saw 53 countries participate at the continental sports showpiece event.

At the end of the games, Uganda emerged 13th, only below Kenya in the East African region.

Uganda collected four gold medals, six silver and nine bronze.

Uganda won gold in the Rugby 7s for both men and women categories as well as in Badminton and Cycling.

Uganda has participated in every edition of the African Games since the first in 1965.

In the 13 editions, the East African country nicknamed the Pearl of Africa owing to its immense beauty has collected a total of 106 medals including 26 gold.
